MAURO CHINAPPI

Mauro Chinappi is associate professor in fluid dynamics at University of Rome Tor Vergata. His research is mainly focused on particle based computational methods ranging from atomistic simulations to coarse grained models.

In the last years, he employed these approaches to the study of transport phenomena in nanopores and nanoporous membranes with applications in sensing devices and filtration. More recently, he has started a research line on the aerothermodynamics involved in the atmosphere entry and, in particular, on the first stages of the spacecraft entry where, due to the low density of the atmosphere, particle based methods are essential to understand of the system behaviour. He currently teaches “Gasdynamics” and “Turbulence and Complex Flows” for the master degree in Mechanical Engineering and “Nanoscale energy technology, nano-sensor and microfluidics” for the master degree in Chemistry for nano-engineering.
